This session will focus on a research agenda for improving urban pandemic preparedness, highlight current research, and conclude with a call for chapters in a forthcoming volume on case studies of urban pandemic preparedness.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is expanding its health sector operations under its newly adopted Strategy 2030 to address development challenges in the region. Prioritizing investments in public goods, such as supporting regional health security and achieving universal health coverage, yield significant returns, especially when agendas are mutually reinforcing. This session presents emerging challenges to the region, examines synergies between strengthening regional health security and achieving universal health coverage, and describes the ADB’s current and future responses to address these needs.
